FESTIVITÉS DU 50E ANNIVERSAIRE DE L’OUVERTURE DU COLLÈGE MILITAIRE ROYAL DE ST-JEAN (C.M.R.)/50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OPENING OF CMR

Du 13 au 15 septembre derniers se tenaient diverses activités marquant l’ouverture du C.M.R. en 1952. Les anciens de cette institution ainsi que les anciens membres du personnel se sont réunis nombreux pour commémorer cet événement sous la présidence d’honneur de l’Honorable Gilles Lamontagne (ancien ministre de la défense et ancien lieutenant-gouverneur du Québec) et du Lgén (ret.) Roméo Dallaire (ancien commandant du C.M.R.)

Over 200 persons attended the TGIF on Friday the 13th at the Dextraze pavilion. Saturday morning 68 golfers enjoyed a golf game under a nice sunny day as well as the class of 1952 who went on a cruise on the Richelieu River. A brunch was organized followed by a guided tour of the ex-CMR.

Dans la soirée un dîner dansant a réuni 310 convives où la classe de 1952 a fait son entrée en défilant allègrement sous les applaudissements de leurs confrères. Les deux co-présidents ont chacun prononcé une brève allocution, touchant ainsi le cœur de tous les participants.

Sunday started by the annual general meeting of the CMR Ex-Cadet Foundation, followed by a parade of the ex-cadets from the officers’ mess to the chapel. An ecumenical service was celebrated by Padre Gilles Boily (ex-staff member) and Christopher Carr (a CMR ex-cadet). The week-end ended by a brunch where near 150 persons attended.
